ANGEL BASKETS PROVIDES YEAR-ROUND HELP FOR LOCAL FAMILIES IN NEED

Angel Baskets was founded in 1981 to provide food and clothing for 8 Telluride families at the holidays. Recognizing that hunger and poverty in the community exist year round, Angel Baskets developed new programs to provide food and clothing throughout the year and expanded the service area to include all of San Miguel County and the west end of Montrose County. The programs now include the original holiday program; regional food banks; school supplies, backpacks and gym shoes; and gift certificates for elders in Nucla and Naturita to assist them with their prescription co-pay and personal necessities.

Angel Baskets' Mission is to provide food, clothing and necessities to those in our community who are struggling financially.
Angel Baskets is an all volunteer organization with no paid employees and no overhead expense. Even our holiday space and storage space are donated.
Area served: San Miguel County and the west-end of Montrose County
Estimated number of people served by program:
Holiday Program: Provides food, toys, gifts, necessities and food gift certificates at the holidays to qualified families. Approximately 200 families and 650 people, half of them children.
School Supplies: Angel Baskets distributes a mix of school supplies, gym shoes and backpacks to more than 250 kids in late summer. The supplies go to kids whose parents are struggling between buying food and buying school supplies. The school supplies are distributed to kids in four school districts: Telluride, Norwood, Nucla/Naturita and Paradox. Our hope is that kids will return to school with a little more confidence and the required tools for a successful year.
Elder Program: The elder Program provides gift certificates to the pharmacy in Nucla to low-income seniors in the west end of Montrose County to assist them with their prescription co-pay. Angel Baskets also distributes food gift certificates for the grocery store closest to seniors' homes several times during the year for seniors in both counties. The pharmacy gift certificates benefit approximately 80 senior households a year and the grocery store certificates are distributed to 83 qualified senior households.
Food Banks: Angel Baskets stocks three regional food banks (San Miguel, Dove Creek/Egnar and Norwood) and supplements the Nucla/Naturita food bank. The Food Banks serve approximately 286 households, 550 people per month.
Angel Baskets is the direct link between those with the desire to help and those who need our help the most, local families struggling financially.
